Algae and recycling

At Hispanagar, we are committed to sustainability and responsible resource management. Our commitment to innovation goes beyond producing high-quality agar. We're also dedicated to minimizing waste and maximizing the value of algal byproducts through a circular economy approach.

One way we're putting this into practice is by participating in the Circalgae project. This initiative explores and develops innovative ways to utilize algal waste streams, transforming them into valuable resources instead of discarding them.

Algal residue, a byproduct of agar extraction, contains various compounds, such as polysaccharides, proteins, and minerals. Using advanced bioprocessing techniques, we can extract these components and repurpose them into new products or enhance our existing processes.

In this project, for example, we are exploring using algal residue as a source of feed for animals, consumable products, and natural cosmetics. These applications reduce waste and contribute to more sustainable practices.

Hispanagar is proud to collaborate with other industry leaders in shaping the future of the circular economy by joining the Circalgae project. Together, we're working to create more sustainable and efficient processes, paving the way for a greener, more responsible future.

Stay tuned for updates on our progress and the exciting results from the Circalgae project!
