The technicians at Hispanagar have selected a new series of samples to send to the researchers of the CIRCALGAE project as a basis for the study of the revaluation of algae.
The samples from Hispanagar, as a reference in Europe for the processing of algae for the production of agar and agars, are of vital importance for the project.
The project evaluates the great potential of different agarophytic algae of the highest quality from European coasts, for their study and possible obtaining of new high-value products.
This project can substantially change the algae industry in Europe, but especially the valorization of by-products and waste from their processing. It is enough to say that the production of algal biomass is around 36 million tons worldwide. From this production, immense amounts of solid waste are generated, which in some cases can reach 95%, in addition to recoverable effluents.
