Food

We manufacture the most widely recognised hydrocolloid derived from seaweed in the food industry: agar-agar. It is an excellent gelling agent and food thickener, as well as a healthy source of plant-based dietary fibre. Its centuries-old reputation as a healthy product means that it is used both in industrial food production and in domestic cooking, reflecting the growing trends in Asian cuisine, vegan culture and environmental awareness. Its use in catering reveals gels with different textures, both hot and cold; in confectionery and pastry making, it achieves versatile coatings and fillings; in dairy products, it provides varying degrees of texture and creaminess, and in canned meat products, it protects the meat juices.

Microbiology

We offer a wide range of ingredients for the manufacture of culture media. These ingredients include various types of bacteriological gels that form the essential gelling base in the medium.

 

These gels do not contain any growth inhibitors, so that growth is not masked. There is also an extensive list of peptones, extracts, infusions and other products that provide the culture media with the nutrients that microorganisms need to proliferate.

 

These media play an important role in clinical diagnosis, quality control and food safety controls, as well as in bioprocesses where peptones are an essential nutrient for the industrial fermentation of cell cultures.

Molecular Biology

For several decades, we have been pioneers in the manufacture of a complete range of agaroses used in molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry. Agarose forms an inert matrix that is mainly used in the separation and purification of nucleic acids, proteins, antibodies and other macromolecules.

 

In addition to traditional electrophoresis, its applications include chromatography techniques (gel, affinity or ion exchange), immunodiffusion, biocatalysis support, use in solid culture media and protein crystal growth. Agarose is the basis for the manufacture of resins necessary for the purification of proteins and antibodies.
