At Hispanagar, we believe in sustainability and responsible resource management. Our commitment to innovation is not limited to the production of high-quality agar, but we also dedicate ourselves to minimizing waste and maximizing the value of algal by-products through a circular economy approach.
One way to put this into practice is our participation in the Circalgae project. This initiative aims to explore and develop innovative ways to utilize algal waste streams, transforming them into valuable resources instead of discarding them.
Algal waste, a by-product of agar extraction, is rich in various compounds such as polysaccharides, proteins, and minerals. Through advanced bioprocessing techniques, we can extract these components and reuse them in new products or to improve our current processes.
For example, in this project, the possibility of using algal waste as a feed source for animals, human consumption products, and even in natural cosmetics is being explored. These applications not only reduce waste but also contribute to more sustainable practices.
