After the first follow-up meeting last March, Hispanagar continues its participation in the European CIRCALGAE project, along with 20 other partners. This project receives funding from Horizon Europe, the European Union's Framework Program for Research and Innovation (R&I).

The objective of this project is the valorization of waste obtained in algae processing, through:

  • The optimization of algae cultivation parameters.
  • The development of a new blue biorefinery scheme.
  • The extraction of high value-added ingredients.
  • The development of new products adapted to the market.

Hispanagar, as experts in algae processing, plays its part by supplying the consortium with samples to obtain nutritional and functional ingredients from the waste generated. Subsequently, partners specializing in different market areas, from food and feed to cosmetics, will be responsible for developing products containing new ingredients derived from them. This is intended to reduce environmental impact and to support the sustainable policies of the European Union.

If you would like to find out more about this project, the CIRCALGAE consortium has just launched a newsletter to keep you updated. Two emails a year will be sent, sharing all the news and progress regarding the project. Sign up here to receive it!
