Este polisac\u00e1rido natural forma parte de las paredes celulares de ciertas algas rojas, como los g\u00e9neros <em>Gelidium<\/em> y<em> Gracilaria<\/em>, donde cumple un papel estructural.&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>La agarosa una vez separada de la agaropectina, estructuralmente es una cadena lineal formada por uniones \u03b2-D-galactopiranosa con 3,6-anhidro-\u03b1-L-galactopiranosa mediante enlaces 1-4.&nbsp; Esta unidad se repite a lo largo de la cadena y se llama agarobiosa. En esta cadena puede haber grupos cargados, que son los responsables de muchas de las propiedades de la agarosa. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>La estructura del gel que forma la agarosa es una macroret\u00edcula estabilizada mediante la formaci\u00f3n de puentes de hidrogeno entre las diferentes cadenas de agarosa, que le confieren una alta fuerza, incluso a bajas concentraciones.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Estos geles son termo-reversibles, nos ofrece una matriz inerte, no t\u00f3xica y con unas propiedades muy especiales que los hacen indispensable en multitud de t\u00e9cnicas de biolog\u00eda celular, bioqu\u00edmica y biolog\u00eda molecular.
